Baby Grant Three Month Milestones

Celebrating Three Months: Grant’s Journey of Love, Milestones, and New Adventures

Today marks an incredibly special day for our family: my sweet little Grant, my chubby chubs, is officially three months old! It feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, a tiny bundle of dreams, and now he’s growing into such a vibrant and expressive little person. Every single day with him is a profound lesson in unconditional love and boundless joy, filling our lives with a warmth we never knew was possible.

Just look at that precious face in the picture below! The sheer cuteness radiating from him is almost too much to handle. From his mesmerizing dark, lively eyes that follow every movement to his spontaneous, happy, toothless smiles and those adorable morning giggles – everything about him is a source of pure delight. Each little sound, every tiny gesture, melts my heart into a giant puddle of overwhelming affection and happiness. It’s a love I’ve truly never experienced before, a powerful, all-encompassing bond that grows stronger with every passing moment.

I find myself seriously, totally, and unconditionally head over heels in love with this little man. The journey of motherhood is often described with many adjectives, but for me, “proud” stands out prominently. How incredibly lucky am I to have the privilege of calling him mine, to guide him, to watch him discover the world, and to be the recipient of his innocent affection? It’s a role I embrace with every fiber of my being.

Witnessing Rapid Growth: From Newborn to Three Months

It’s truly astonishing how quickly babies grow. It feels like a blink of an eye since he was a tiny newborn, and now he’s already stretching out, gaining weight, and becoming more alert with each passing day. The transformation in just three short months is remarkable. One moment you’re marveling at their fragile newness, the next they’re pushing themselves up and babbling. There’s a bittersweet sensation that accompanies this rapid development – a desire to freeze time, even for just a little while longer, to savor the fleeting newborn stage that passes far too quickly. While I eagerly anticipate all the exciting milestones yet to come, I’m also consciously trying to soak in every single waking moment with him, cherishing the unique magic of these early months.

To truly grasp the extent of his growth, take a look at the comparison photo below. On the left, Grant is just one week old, a tiny newborn. On the right, he is 13 weeks old, a full-fledged three-month-old. The difference is absolutely astounding! Omg, omg, can we please find a way to freeze time? Because I genuinely need this precious newborn stage to last just a little bit longer. It’s not that I don’t embrace his growth; quite the opposite, I adore seeing him develop. But there’s something incredibly special about the early weeks that I want to hold onto just a little tighter. Each new inch, each pound gained, is a testament to his thriving spirit, and it’s a constant reminder of the incredible journey we’re on together.

Embracing New Adventures: Grant’s First Forays into the World

Life with a newborn often revolves around the home, with medical appointments and short, functional outings like daily walks around the neighborhood being the extent of our adventures. However, last week, we finally ventured out into the public world for a proper outing, beyond the routine hospital trips and our customary strolls around town. It was a small step for some, but a big leap for us as new parents.

Our destination? Grocery shopping! Haha, I know, it sounds incredibly exciting, right? But you truly have no idea how much I missed the simple act of browsing aisles and picking out fresh produce. It’s one of those pre-baby activities you take for granted until it becomes a logistical challenge. Grant, surprisingly, loved it too! He was absolutely fascinated by all the bright lights, the vibrant colors of the shelves stacked with goods, and the overall change of scenery. His eyes were wide with wonder, taking in every new visual stimulus. It was a successful first outing, and it gave me a renewed sense of confidence about re-engaging with the world outside our home.

Unveiling Personality and Milestones at Three Months

Three months is a pivotal age where babies truly begin to show glimpses of their unique personalities. Grant is no exception, already developing distinct preferences and displaying incredible leaps in his cognitive and physical development. These aren’t just “baby things”; they are the foundational blocks of the amazing person he is becoming.

Developing Personality & Musical Preferences

Grant is really starting to shape his personality, and it’s absolutely endearing to watch. He already has his favorite songs and types of music! For instance, when he’s a bit fussy or just needs a moment to chill out, we play his favorite song, “Cool Enough” by Spada & Elen Levon, and boom – he’s instantly calm and content. It’s amazing to see how music can captivate and soothe him. In those rare instances when his favorite tune isn’t quite enough to bring a smile, a simple diaper change invariably does the trick. Observing these early preferences gives us such joy, seeing the little person he’s becoming day by day.

Early Vocalizations and the Journey of Bilingualism

Oh my gosh, Grant is super talkative, especially in the mornings! His coos and babbling are becoming more elaborate, almost as if he’s trying to hold a conversation with us. My partner, Garrat, often jokes that he wouldn’t be surprised if Grant started talking at six months – that’s how much he vocalizes! I’ll definitely have to snapchat some of these adorable “conversations” sometime (FYI, my snapchat is shineshka). Speaking of talking, I have a clear plan for his language development: I intend on raising him bilingual, speaking to him exclusively in Mongolian. This approach is often referred to as “one parent, one language” (OPOL), or something similar. If you have any experience with raising bilingual children, particularly using the OPOL method, please share your tips and insights! We are eager to learn from seasoned parents and ensure Grant benefits from a rich linguistic environment from an early age.

The Elusive Gift of Longer Sleep Stretches

For any new parent, sleep is a precious commodity, often elusive and constantly dreamed about. So, you can imagine my shock and utter delight when, on March 16th, Grant slept for an incredible five hours straight at night! When I woke up in the middle of the night and realized it had been four hours since his last feed, I was completely stunned. His usual sleep stretch is typically two hours, maybe three at most on a really good night. But five hours? That was absolutely unheard of for us! I was so tempted to wake him to feed, driven by habit and a slight worry, but I resisted. I wanted to see how long he could truly sleep on his own. The very next night, he did wake up every hour, likely due to discomfort from his two-month vaccines. However, he thankfully resumed his longer stretches of sleep the following night. What a blessing! I don’t think I consciously did anything specific to promote this, but it truly made a world of difference. Given this newfound appreciation for sleep, I’ll be sharing my top five favorite items that significantly help my little guy sleep better. Keep on scrolling to discover those sleep-enhancing essentials!

Grasping the World: Developing Motor Skills

Just a week or so ago, my little munchkin started holding his toy and actively playing with it. It’s a simple act, but it signals such a huge developmental leap! He loves shaking it vigorously, listening to the sounds it makes, and then, of course, tasting it – everything goes into the mouth at this age! Watching him interact with a toy for the first time, seeing his little hands grasp and manipulate, is truly the cutest sight. Every small change, every new skill he acquires, makes my heart jump with an indescribable joy and pride. If you’re a mom, I bet you understand exactly what I mean; these tiny victories are the most significant rewards of parenthood.

The Realities of Motherhood: Adjusting and Confessing

Motherhood is a journey filled with incredible highs, but also unexpected challenges and the constant process of learning and adapting. It’s a role where perfection is an illusion, and self-compassion becomes an essential tool.

Navigating Life After Support: Building a New Routine

It’s been exactly a month since my mom left after providing invaluable help during the initial postpartum period. And, I’m thrilled to say, yay, I survived it! The first couple of weeks after she left were a bit of an adjustment as we worked to get into a new routine, just Grant and me. Some days were definitely harder than others, filled with more questions and less sleep, but I’m incredibly proud to say that we’re doing great now. We’ve found our rhythm, and while it’s still evolving, it feels much more manageable. I’m learning that being a “perfect mom” is an unattainable goal, and there are certainly things I’m not always proud of when it comes to the daily trials of parenthood. But acknowledging these imperfections doesn’t make me a bad mom, I hope. In fact, embracing the messy, imperfect parts of this journey can be quite liberating. So, I thought it’d be fun and relatable to add a new section here for confessions, sharing those less-than-glamorous moments we all experience.

Mommy Confession: The Nail-Trimming Dilemma

Alright, here’s my first mommy confession: I absolutely hate trimming my baby’s nails! I have these cute little scissors, which are super sharp and comfortable to hold, specifically designed for infants. Yet, every time I go to use them, I’m filled with a paralyzing fear that I’ll accidentally cut into his delicate, paper-thin skin. Ugh, the thought alone makes me cringe. I’ve been holding off for as long as I possibly can, procrastinating on this dreaded task. But then, the other day, he scratched himself twice on his precious face, leaving faint red marks. That was the wake-up call I needed. I had to swallow my fear and just do it! It wasn’t easy, and I certainly am not looking forward to the next time, but those damn baby nails grow so incredibly fast. It’s an ongoing battle, and I wish there was an easier, less stressful way to keep those tiny talons at bay.

Our Top 5 Essential Baby Products for a Smoother Journey

As new parents, we’re constantly looking for products that genuinely make life a little easier, more comfortable, and provide that much-needed peace of mind. After three months of trial and error, a few items have risen to the top as absolute must-haves for us. These aren’t just things we like; these are products we’re absolutely crazy about because they’ve significantly improved our daily routine, especially when it comes to Grant’s sleep and overall well-being. If you’re expecting or currently navigating the early months of parenthood, I hope our recommendations can help you too!

1. Halo Bassinest: Close Proximity for Peaceful Nights

The Halo Bassinest has been a game-changer for us. I absolutely love this bassinet for its innovative design and convenience. Having my little munchkin at arm’s reach throughout the night has been invaluable for seamless nighttime breastfeeding. It allows me to tend to him without fully getting out of bed, promoting a more peaceful and continuous sleep for both of us. Additionally, because Grant doesn’t particularly enjoy sleeping on a completely flat surface (a common preference for babies, especially those with mild reflux), I place this specific wedge under the mattress, and it creates the perfect slight incline. The Bassinest itself boasts so many great features, including a gentle night light, a smooth swivel function for easy access, and a super sturdy base that provides stability and reassurance. While it also offers soothing vibrator and music features, we personally don’t use those, finding the basic design and proximity to be the most beneficial. Now that Grant is growing so much and nearing the weight limit, I’m afraid he’ll have to transition to his crib soon, and I’m already dreading the loss of this incredible convenience!

2. Halo Swaddling Blanket: The Secret to Secure Sleep

Grant absolutely loves being swaddled! It provides him with a sense of security and comfort, mimicking the snug feeling of the womb, which is crucial for preventing the startle reflex that can disrupt sleep. The Halo Swaddling Blanket makes this essential part of our bedtime routine incredibly easy and comfortable for both me and Grant. Its simple design ensures a secure, snug fit without complicated folds, which is a blessing in the middle of the night. I own both the micro-fleece and cotton versions, and while both are excellent, I find myself reaching for the fleece one more often for that extra cozy feel. It truly helps him settle down and sleep more soundly, which, in turn, helps us get more rest too.

3. Cloud b Sound Machine: Soothing Sounds for Slumber

One of our absolute favorite and most effective bedtime routines involves the Cloud b Sound Machine. We feed him while the soothing ocean surf sound plays softly in the background. Without fail, almost like magic, my baby falls asleep within five minutes after the sound is on. It’s absolutely amazing! The consistent, calming white noise or nature sound creates a peaceful environment that signals to him that it’s time to wind down. This machine has become an indispensable part of our nightly ritual, ensuring a smoother transition to sleep and providing a comforting auditory backdrop that blocks out household noises.

4. Musical Mobile: Encouraging Independent Naps

Grant takes one of his daily naps in his crib, and ever since I installed this musical mobile, he has started falling asleep on his own more consistently. In the beginning, I thought the spinning figures and gentle music were distracting him, making him more alert. However, I soon realized that after the music gently turns off and the motion stops, he instantly settles into a peaceful slumber. The mobile serves as a wonderful visual and auditory stimulant that helps him wind down and focus, eventually leading to self-soothing and independent sleep. It’s a fantastic tool for encouraging babies to fall asleep in their crib, creating a positive association with their sleeping space.

5. Samsung SafeVIEW Baby Monitor: A Mother’s Peace of Mind

For a worry-wart mommy like me, a baby video monitor is an absolute must-have! The Samsung SafeVIEW Baby Monitor provides me with the continuous reassurance I need. I need to keep my eyes on my baby every second while he’s napping during the day, even if he’s just in the next room. Mind you, I don’t have a huge house, but still, I can’t imagine nap-time without this monitor. The clear video feed allows me to see if he’s stirring, sleeping soundly, or needs attention, without disturbing his rest by entering the room. It truly is the absolute best invention for parents who want to stay connected to their little one’s well-being while allowing themselves to move about the house. It’s an indispensable tool for peace of mind, allowing me to accomplish tasks while knowing he is safe and sound.

Alrighty, that wraps up our three-month update with my sweet munchkin, Grant! I hope you enjoyed this peek into our journey, filled with love, laughter, and a few confessions. It’s been an incredible adventure so far, and we can’t wait to see what the next month brings. Until next month, stay well and cherish your little ones!
